Education Week (9/16, Mitchell) reports the number of languages offered through dual-immersion programs in schools is growing across the country. New York City offers immersion programs in Creole, Hebrew, Japanese, Mandarin, Russian, and Spanish. Houston opened an Arabic-language school this year. California opened their first Vietnamese dual-language program in Westminster. Dual-immersion programs receive support from communities that want their students to retain native languages as well as those that want their students to learn new languages.
...a place to share education news as well as ideas, thoughts, and strategies, about the instruction of language.
