The Oregonian (9/8, Frazier) reports a group of parents in Portland, Oregon are demanding smaller class sizes for their children attending school in the district. The group delivered letters to Portland Public Schools Superintendent Carole Smith sharing their concerns prompted by a first grade class at Sabin School with 32 students. The school district announced that Sabin School and others would receive additional staffing to address the overcrowded classes. Parents and students demonstrated outside the district office holding signs demanding an official policy to require smaller class sizes for all.
