New York State Reportedly “Tweaked” Common Core Tests.

The New York Post (9/13, Edelman) reported Sunday that despite New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s praise for Common Core test scores, “state officials did not reveal that they lowered the number of right answers needed to pass almost half of the exams.” According to the Post, records show that New York State education officials “tweaked” the scores for fourth through seventh-grade math and sixth-grade English, and on affected tests, “Big Apple kids’ scores jumped significantly,” with gains ranging between 1.7 and 4.7 percent.
