Education Week (10/6, Sawchuk) reports the ED announced that 12 organizations with share $51 million in competitive grants to support the professional development of teachers. The grants were awarded to organizations that proved their effectiveness in improving teacher performance including: KIPP Foundation, National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, National Writing Project, Teach For America, and TNTP (The New Teacher Project).
