Budget Disagreements In Pennsylvania Could Lead To School Closures.

The AP (10/17, Levy) reports that disagreement between Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf and the Republican-controlled legislature over budgets has led to talk of school districts closing. The report says that discussion of school closures in 2003 led Democrats and Republicans to find a solution to budgetary disagreements. The AP calls shutting a district down “a dramatic move” that could cause children receiving meals at schools to lose their meals, stop after-school programs, and strain parents’ work schedules. However, the report says, some districts are accumulating debts that are likely to grow bigger into the winter.
