The Hechinger Report (10/9, Dobo) reports Summit Public Schools, a California-based charter school network, worked with a team of Facebook developers to create a prototype of a program that would allow teachers to “customize each school day for each student.” The team has now chosen 19 schools across the US to test the product so it can be further developed before being released to a wider number of schools. Product developers said they have learned from past mistakes where education technology companies tried to offer a product or service to a huge audience without doing any testing with smaller groups.
