NPR (10/19, Kamenetz) reports research shows that integrated schools do not reduce the academic performance of white students. One study found that white students have similar test scores at white-majority schools as at black-majority schools, after controlling for socioeconomic status. Another study found that diversity in small group exercises could improve performance. Attending integrated schools can also make students more empathetic and less prejudiced.
