Pensacola (FL) News Journal (10/11) reports that faculty from the University of West Florida, Pensacola State College, Northwest Florida State College, and a “half-dozen science learning centers and the Escambia, Okaloosa and Walton County school districts” have partnered to increase the number of high school and middle school teachers in the STEM fields. Dr. John Pecore of the University of West Florida said that “we want to reach students with an interest in STEM fields early and help them to explore teaching as a career path.” The effort will be aided by a $125,000 grant from the National Science Foundation
