Hospitalized New York Student Pushed To Take Test

Valerie Strauss writes at the Washington Post (5/3, Strauss) "Answer Sheet" blog that "a fourth grader with severe epilepsy being screened at a hospital for possible brain surgery was lying in bed when a teacher walked in and asked him to take a New York State high-stakes standardized test." Strauss explains that New York State law requires hospitals to provide instruction to hospitalized students, and explains that students are able to get medical exemptions if they meet certain requirements.
