Bill Would Pay For Modernizing School Kitchens
Nirvi Shah writes at the Education Week (5/6) "Rules of Engagement" blog about the push for the School Food Modernization Act, legislation before Congress to provide "more money for school kitchens, some of which were built decades ago and can't keep up with the new standards required by the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act." Shah notes that USDA "had set aside $35 million in this year's budget for new school kitchen equipment," but that sequestration stripped $25 million away.
