Parent Trigger Bill Fails In Florida

Reuters (3/10, Peltier) reported that a measure to allow parents of children in failing public schools to supersede their local school board failed to get a simple majority in Florida's state Senate Friday, going down in a 20-20 tie vote. Critics of the so-called "Parent Trigger" plan said it would have dealt a major blow to teacher unions and public education.
