Over the past few years I've been reading a lot about the SIOP model. SIOP stands for Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol. The method is designed to help English learners using "effective ways to help them acquire the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in the classroom and beyond".
I've had no formal training in the SIOP method. However, I've been using a few of the books Pearson publishes and feel like I've had good results. I think the strategies are practical and have a common sense approach that works for all students.
