The Panama City (FL) News Herald (10/13, Segal) reports that districts across Florida are "implementing the first phase of the Common Core Standards for the 2011-2012 kindergarten class. Kindergarten students will have additional material taught in the areas of language arts and mathematics. For example, students will learn to count to 100 by tens and one, instead of counting to 20." The piece notes that Florida, along with a majority of states, has adopted the standards.
